Recreation

Bird song. Waters falling down moss covered granite rocks. Gentle winds brushing leaves. These will be the only things to break revere in the Balinese-style Spa. Three individual, private open-air pavilions are separated from each other by natural rock formations. Each spacious 120 sqm pavilion features its own garden, changing rooms and showers. Besides world-class therapy and beauty treatments using La Prairie products, the highly trained staff can offer more than just skin-deep relief by guiding through accompanied yoga, self-Shiatsu and Qi Gong sessions.

The fitness centre provides the latest Excite equipment and a Kinesis wall. Privately trained therapists offer intuitive massages and an assortment of packages, including special Kids Only treatments such as the banana leaf wrap with hydrating gel for sunburn.

The crystal clear aquamarine waters surrounding the Maia peninsula are reserved only for the pleasure of non-motorized water sports such as canoeing, kayaking and snorkeling – ensuring experience of paradise is undisturbed by the sound of a boat engine, unless of course, one of the luxury leisure crafts throttles in softly to take guests to another Seychelles experience. The Beau Vallon aquatic water sports centre in the North of Mahe provides a variety of motorized and non-motorized water sports, including parasailing, skiing, jet skiing, paddle skiing, windsurfing and banana rides.

Fishing trips offer the excitement of catching some of the biggest game - including jacks, tuna, marlin, bonito and swordfish - from the abundantly stocked Indian Ocean. Once landed the catch, the chef can prepare it, just the way guests like it, back at the villa or on the beach. Travelers can enjoy a full day or half day’s fishing - day or night, with a specially equipped ship and crew by arranging this with the butler.

Dining

Excellence in taste is not only something reserved for aesthetics. At Maia, gastronomical pleasure is a promise – and because chefs know that an appetite or even a fetish for food doesn’t keep restaurant hours, the kitchens cater for individual tastes, satiating desires with the flexibility to indulge the palate beyond the confines of a regular menu and set dining hours. The skilled culinary team has perfected the art of fusion cooking to create intriguing blends of flavor, texture, color and aroma by placing an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. Menu here isn’t a variety of meals. It’s a variety of menus. The chefs will delight guests with a la carte options featuring Creole, French, contemporary and Mediterranean cuisine, complemented by Asian and Creole accents.

Catch-of-the-day offers a variety of freshly caught fish to suit every taste and appetite. Typical dishes include Lobster sago salad with green asparagus, scented fresh basil and peach ravioli coolant, Grilled sea scallops a la plancha, with scented wasabi and crispy asparagus tempura soba-style, Cherry gazpacho with goat’s cheese ice cream and herb salad, Slow-cooked pan seared pigeon with artichokes and quail egg scented with truffles oil, Almond panacotta with cilantro salad and pineapple and hazelnut gianduja raviolitto and a Duo of grapefruits on a fine layer of pistachio biscuit and vanilla air.

Tec-Tec Restaurant at Maia is the only gourmet restaurant to be found on Mahe and is for the exclusive use of residents only. Maia’s culinary team focuses on haute light cuisine for guests seeking low-calorie options. En route to the main pool and beach, guests will discover the Sunset Pool Bar where a variety of delicious snacks and refreshing signature cocktails are served. At Maia, vacationers have complete freedom to dine in the privacy of their villa with a meal organized by a personal butler - or they can take to the beaches for a candlelit dinner alongside the stunning Indian Ocean waves. Barbeques can be arranged in the seclusion of villa’s gazebo and there is a wide choice of secluded garden terraces by the poolside providing a refreshing choice for those seeking intimacy.
