The black sand beach is a popular sight many travelers want to see when visiting Iceland. On the Southern coast the black sand beach streatches along the coastline. From the hotel you can walk on a private road only accessible for guests all the way to the black-sand coast. It is magical to see the sunrise and sunset from the beach and if in luck the northern lights swirling around. Just be careful around the shore lines because the Atlantic ocean waves are powerful.
Skógafoss waterfall is about 10 km the hotel. There is an old myth about the waterfall…. a viking settler named Þrasi, is believed to have buried his chest of gold under the waterfall.
Kvernufoss waterfall is often overlooked for its cousin… the previously mentioned waterfall Skógafoss. The waterfall is located on the east side of Skógafoss and you walk past the Skógar museum.
