Split is called the heart of Dalmatia. It is the largest city in Croatia on the Adriatic coast, its business, administrative and cultural center, important sea port and just a beautiful old town. Vacation here is notable, first of all, for the stunning sea views, as well as the surprisingly harmonious blend of the old and new parts of the city. The unique architecture is comprised of several styles making the city charming and inimitable. Modern shops, fashion boutiques, cafes and restaurants imperceptibly interweave with houses surrounding the central square of the old town.
Split is the cultural center of Croatia; it houses many museums and monuments, each summer holding splendid festivals and concerts. The main landmark of the city is the Diocletian Palace, built per sample of the roman military camp. According to the legend, it is the place where the ruler of the Ancient Rome was born. Split is great for promenades along the ancient streets enjoying the sea, also offering a great variety of sport activities, from basketball to diving.
