Jakarta is the capital and the largest city of Indonesia, located on the northwest coast of Java. It’s a rapidly growing city with the population of 9.5 million people. Jakarta’s look has been changing quickly due to the appearance of new skyscrapers and modern trade centers shining with their beaming windows. Nowadays Jakarta boasts historical museums, famous residential neighborhoods, grand colonial architecture and the great variety of superb boutiques, antique stores, restaurants and entertainment centers. Its architecture had a great European impact, brought to the island by colonizers. This megalopolis attracts a lot of tourists from around the world with the variety of sights.

Visiting them is a long journey. Zoo Ragunan situated in the south of the city is the home to many rare species of animals, like giant lizard Komodo, tapir and Javanese tiger. The center of the city is Merdeka Square with the 137-meter National Monument rising right in the middle of it. To the south of Jakarta is located park Taman Mini. The park is a synopsis of Indonesian culture with all aspects of daily life in Indonesia’s provinces encapsulated in separate pavilions. Not far from it there is the Permai Orchid Garden, tropical bird land, water palace and other Jakarta’s places of interest.
