During the ruling of the 13 dynasties Xian was the capital of China, and now it is its historical center with the population about 8 million people. It is one of the most important cities in Chinese history, almost three thousand years old. That’s the place where the Silk Road took its start, which attracted to the city many merchants, musicians and poets. Xian has many historical treasures of ancient dynasties, from the restored city walls to the grand Terracotta Warriors. The City Wall of the Ming epoch is the largest and best preserved in China. From the wall tourists can enjoy picturesque panoramic view of the Old Town and its Bell and Drum Towers.

The drum beat announced to the citizens that the day was over and it was time they wound up all the work. At the same time the gates closed and the access to the city was ceased. In the 70-s archaeologists found now world-wide famous Terracotta Warriors in the burial mound of the first Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang. Now they’ve become one of the main attractions in the city, and the whole China. Xian at nighttime is equally charming: most of the buildings are beautifully lit, and the Central Square’s musical Fountain is flowing with rainbow colors.
