Victoria Falls is the legendary tourist destination point attracting travelers from all parts of the world. The Falls are located on the Zambezi River, the fourth largest in Africa, on the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia. The width of the Falls is 1700 meters. The waters of the Zambezi River fall in the precipice from the height of 146 meters. The first European visited the Falls was David Livingstone. For the first time he heard about the existence of the huge waterfall back in 1851; several years after David started off the search. Moving down along the Zambezi River, Livingstone finally reached the Falls. He sailed towards the precipice on canoe and named the waterfall in honor of the English Queen. The thick mist produced by the waterfall and its thunder-like roar can be heard from 40-km distance. In the upper point of the waterfall there is a natural mountain pond, called Devil’s Pool, where the water is relatively calm. From September to December when the water level is low, Devil’s Pool turns into one of the largest water bodies where tourists can swim. The Victoria Falls makes us closer to the primeval nature with its high pillars of splashes when the river is full-flowing, the roar of the falling water, thrilling precipice separating Zimbabwe from Zambia, plain quiet forests, and calm lagoons full of hippopotamuses and death-defying crocodiles.
