Aman Sveti Stefan

Sveti Stefan, Montenegro

Aman Sveti Stefan is located in the centre of Montenegro’s Adriatic coastline, south of Budva and between the villages of Pržno and Sveti Stefan. The site incorporates two kilometres of coastline including the pink sandy beaches of Sveti Stefan, Miločer Beach and the famous Queen’s Beach which is backed by the resort’s expansive Aman Spa. Aman Sveti Stefan enjoys breathtaking views of the sea, across the bay and along Montenegro’s most renowned stretch of coastline. The island itself measures 12,400 square metres, and while its historic exterior remains largely unchanged, the resort’s interiors have been restored and updated to meet contemporary expectations.

For more than 600 years the island of Sveti Stefan has been home to a cluster of stone cottages and churches with cheerful red-tiled roofs tucked amongst hardy evergreen trees. Today the village has been reborn as Aman Sveti Stefan. Together these historic sites comprise Aman Sveti Stefan. Once a fortified village dating back to the 15th century, the island of Sveti Stefan is a uniquely atmospheric setting of cobbled lanes, quaint courtyards and remarkable sea views. The open-air square at its centre — the Piazza — is the heart and soul of the village and features a number of dining venues.

Aman Sveti Stefan offers 50 rooms, cottages and suites on the island, all accessed via individually-named stone footpaths and staircases. Accommodation on the island is divided into Village Rooms, Cottages, Deluxe Cottages, Seaview Terrace Cottages, Grand Suites, the Adriatic Suite and the Sveti Stefan Suite. Every room, cottage and suite on the island is completely unique and are decorated in a subtly elegant fashion, providing every modern comfort whilst retaining the historic air and ambience of the island. Once the summer residence of Queen Marija , Villa Miloˇcer is an integral part of Aman Sveti Stefan and houses eight elegant suites. Overlooking Miloˇcer Beach, this storied stone manse is surrounded by more than 800 olive trees and embraced on three sides by ancient cedar and pine forests.. Each of the suites has a Juliet-style balcony with views either over the sea towards the island of Sveti Stefan or of the gardens.

Location

In a country famed for its beauty, the most iconic images associated with Montenegro are of the tiny islet named Sveti Stefan. Attached to the coast by a narrow isthmus, the island lies across the bay from Villa Miločer and the resort’s stand-alone Aman Spa, and together these historic sites comprise Aman Sveti Stefan.

Three main airports act as gateways to Aman Sveti Stefan: in Montenegro, Tivat Airport is 34 kilometres and a 30-minute drive from the resort, while Podgorica Airport (also known locally as Golubovci Airport) is 54 kilometres and just over an hour’s drive away. Dubrovnik Airport in Čilipi, Croatia is approximately a 2½-hour drive away. Airport transfers are complimentary to and from Tivat and the resort can arrange transfers from Podgorica and Dubrovnik Airports.

Infrastructure

The property’s extensive, stand-alone Aman Spa is situated just back from the beach, surrounded by rolling lawns and verdant forests. The Aman Spa offers its own indoor heated swimming pool, housed almost completely in glass. The pool is 24 metres in length and extends outdoors for an additional eight metres. The Spa offers an extensive treatment menu to be enjoyed in four double treatment suites and provides three Hydrotherapy Rooms, each with a sauna, steam shower and cold plunge pool. The Spa’s Fitness Centre includes a comprehensive 140-square-metre Gym, a fully-equipped Pilates Studio and a Yoga Studio with floors that can be heated in winter. Guests can also enjoy a range of massage and body treatments in one of the six Spa Cottages scattered over Sveti Stefan Island, which also offers another Gym.

Aman Sveti Stefan offers personalised guided excursions to scenic and cultural attractions along the Montenegrin coast and into the spectacular interior of the country. Cycling, bird watching and wine tasting can also be arranged. Situated on the Adriatic coastline, Aman Sveti Stefan enjoys a prime position for offering guests a plethora of water-based activities. These include sailing, fishing and diving as well as waterskiing. There are two swimming pools on the island.

Dining

The island of Sveti Stefan offers diverse dining options in a uniquely atmospheric setting, the Piazza. Ideal for al fresco tapas and drinks, Enoteca offers a sea-facing terrace and cellar-like interiors. The Taverna is the nerve centre of the Piazza serving simple European and American breakfasts as well as fresh, pastoral Mediterranean dishes for lunch and dinner. Adjacent lies the Antipasti Bar, a convivial space open in the early evenings. The island also offers Aman, the resort’s main restaurant which serves Montenegrin fare as well as international cuisine. The adjacent Rakija Bar— an ideal venue for refreshments throughout the day. Guests can also enjoy drinks and snacks on the Upper Terrace and the Winter Terrace which both offer superb views of the Adriatic Sea.

At Villa Miločer, the Dining Room, Loggia and the Living Room offer simple, elegant menus driven by fresh produce and locally-caught seafood. Both the Dining Room and Loggia are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and are located on the ground floor. The Dining Room is an intimate seven-table dining space with a large open fireplace. Loggia features a wisteria-covered colonnade providing a shady retreat during the summer and one of the most picturesque dining terraces in the Adriatic region. The Living Room includes a comfortable lounge where guests may enjoy afternoon tea and evening cocktails.

Tucked into a cove near Villa Miločer is the Beach Café which provides informal dining throughout the day. It enjoys an alfresco setting shaded by cypress and olive trees, and offers a simple café menu. There are a number of vineyards within a two-hour’s drive of Aman Sveti Stefan. Two of these wineries grow the Montenegrin grape varietal known as Vranac and offer private wine tastings of regional wines.
