Infrasctructure

There are three bars, an excellent restaurant and a beautiful infinity pool, all designed to blend naturally with a unique East African setting. The Fusion Spa has a range of exclusive treatments using specially formulated blends of local spices and, for the more active, there is the resort’s fully equipped dive centre. The Indian Ocean that surrounds Pemba features some of the best snorkelling and diving sites in the world. Fundu Lagoon has everything you need to enjoy the Indian Ocean, from wakeboarding to windsurfing, kayaking or simply strolling along the peaceful shoreline.

The hotel sources its fresh fish, organic vegetables and fruits daily from the local community on the Wambaa Peninsular. Fundu Lagoon is privileged to share its remote and unspoiled paradise with the local Pemban community of the nearby villages: Kutukuu, Kwaazani, and Kunguni. There is a school in the area funded by Lagoon guest donations. The guests have an opportunity to contribute to the education of the local children by bringing spare exercise books, used English encyclopedias, maps, pencils and sports equipment.

Dining

Fundu offers some of the best cuisine in East Africa, reflecting the cultural heritage of Zanzibar to create a fusion of Arabic, Indian, Swahili, and Colonial influences. A daily fisherman’s catch and tropical fruits add an exotic twist to familiar international dishes. Fundu’s chefs provide delicious picnics for excursions and private dining can also be arranged, where your own personal chef and waiter will attend to your every need at a candle-lit table under the stars on the beach or your own terrace. There is a weekly barbeque and every Sunday night tables are set up on the jetty for a feast of Swahili cuisine and music.

The Jetty Bar is a favourite place to lounge and watch the fishermen and dhow boats passing by during the day or enjoy the sunsets in the evening whilst the main bar, set in the hub of the hotel, is a relaxing place for a post dinner nightcap. The poolside bar serves cooling drinks and light snacks throughout the day. All meals and Fundu drinks such as soft drinks, beers, and house wines are included in Fundu’s hospitality. Additional premium spirits and wines are also available on request.
