The Siam

Bangkok, Thailand

Opened in 2012

Opened in 2012 in Bangkok’s leafy Dusit district, home to Thai royalty and other Hi-So (“high society”) celebrities, the Siam sounds small – 39 rooms, including 29 suites, some actually villas with their own private pools – but manages to be elegant, spacious and luxurious. The hotel’s all-white Main Residence centres on a vast glass-roofed atrium – inspired by Paris’s Musée d’Orsay – and a monolithic black granite fountain bordered by verdant palms and giant ferns. The open-air corridors leading to guest rooms give onto the atrium, their subdued palette of grey, white and black achieving a kind of Art Déco minimalism, with period Art Déco furniture arranged on staircase landings and along the corridors themselves. Step into your private urban sanctuary; a stunning, luxury hotel, replete with exquisite art & antiques and set amidst 3 acres of lush gardens on the Chao Phraya River, adjoining Bangkok’s must-see historical and cultural attractions.

In 2024 the Siam in Thailand has been awarded 3 Michelin Guide Keys and climbed to the 26th place on The World’s 50 Best Hotels list.

Muay Thai Training

“Muay” is a traditional Thai sport and one of The Siam’s specialties. The word Muay is derived from Sanskrit, meaning to bind together. It is referred to as the art of 8 limbs because of its use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes. Muay Thai is not simply a fighting sport, it also helps to increase your fitness and emotional wellbeing. The Siam’s gymnasium is the first professionally equipped luxury Muay Thai facility in Bangkok. They offer training programs suitable for beginners to advanced, and from one day to one week training courses. Sak Yant Tattoo Studio

The Siam has integrated an ancient Thai tradition with the opening of a specially consecrated space devoted to the inking of sacred tattoos. Known as Sak Yan in Thai (and popularly spelt Sak Yant even though the t is always silent), the magical-religious designs in black ink can be traced back to their use among animistic Tai tribes in southwestern China and northwestern Vietnam two millennia ago.

Collodion Wet Plate Photography

Would you call him a photographer or an alchemist? Collodion wet plate photography, one of the earliest photographic processes, was invented in 1851 by Frederic Scott Archer, and it requires both skills. Handmade from start to finish, each plate is carefully coated in collodion and sensitized in a silver nitrate bath. This light-sensitive plate is then exposed to light to make a picture. With a mobile darkroom, we can shoot just about anywhere at the hotel. You can also try a studio experience at Red Light Lab Studio, which is located just 15 minutes away in a tuk-tuk. Collodion wet plate photo is known to last forever. Capture your moment with us and take home this unique portrait. This one-off photograph can never be copied.
