Thanda Private Game Reserve is pleased to announce that its safari spa is now a fully-fledged Africology spa. Africology products are created without any chemicals or perfumes, and are preserved and fragranced by natural extracts and oils.
Kids of all ages are welcome at the hotel, and when they arrive at the lodge they will be invited to join the Thanda Bucks & Bugs Club. On arrival, kids will be given a cool Bucks & Bugs bag filled with goodies to occupy the young guests. The Junior Rangers course is really exciting. Kids will be invited to complete the course during their stay by the ranger. During game drives with their ranger and tracker, kids will be taught about different mammals, birds, trees, spoor and even stars.
Being so close to the Indian Ocean Thanda is able to offer a world-class bush and beach breakaway with trips to nearby Isimangaliso, formerly known as St. Lucia. Horse riding on the beach, cultural excursions, whale watching, diving packages and snorkel safaris are just some of the options that Thanda has to offer.
The best time for game drives is first thing in the morning or late afternoon as animals are more active during the cooler hours of the day.

Thanda is proud to offer its guests a variety of dining venues to enhance the African experience. The drama of the boma, in front of the setting sun and behind the flames of a roaring fire is an image synonymous with the safari experience, but only one of the dining options afforded guests. Head chef Richard Phiri prides his ability to offer versatile, mouthwatering dishes that appeal to guests off all cultures and nationalities. South African cuisine is only one flavor in Richard’s potjie as he enjoys experimenting with the flavors he encountered during his training years spent in Milan, the United States, Malawi and Mauritius.
Seasonal game meat is always on the menu for the more adventurous eaters. The maintenance of an herb garden at the owner’s private villa ensures a constant supply of fresh ingredients. Intimate discussions with clients ensure that their dietary requirements are respected. Excellent wines are the perfect accompaniment to fine food and Thanda boasts a superbly stocked wine cellar and cigar bar for the discerning guest.
