The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto is the first luxury urban resort in Japan, located in the heart of a city famed for its Zen temples, palaces and gardens. Designed by Remedios Design Studio, the Japan resort features 134 guest rooms and suites, most with breathtaking views of the Kamogawa river and the Higashiyama mountains. The resort features 17 luxurious suites including the Garden Terrace Suite — floor-to-ceiling windows with private Zen garden terrace deck; Garden Terrace Suite TATAMI — traditional tatami mats and futon with Japanese gardens and Higashiyama mountain views and personal balcony with table for contemplation and relaxation; Corner Suite TATAMI — traditional Japanese style with traditional tatami mats and futon and décor with Japanese garden and old Kyoto views; Suite TSUKIMI — private garden with traditional moon viewing deck, dining area and study desk; Suite KAMOGAWA — spacious, overlooking the panoramic views of Kamogawa river and Higashiyama mountains; The Ritz-Carlton Suite — premium, spacious suite with private dining room and study, complete with a private balcony and fireplace. All suites are thoughtfully designed to provide luxurious comfort and feature traditional Japanese décor and Kyoto craft tradition.
The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto makes use of a design that is in harmony with the historical neighborhood’s environment, while achieving a fusion of traditional and contemporary Japanese style sought to retain the character and aesthetic of a traditional Meiji house and courtyard into the architectural structure of the building to reflect the ancient culture of the city. Interiors created by Peter Remedios Design Studio pay homage to the traditions of Japan, with patterned motifs created by local artisans and the incorporation of Zen gardens and water features, including a waterfall positioned in the heart of the property.
Location
The Ritz-Carlton, Kyotosits on the banks of the Kamogawa river, with sweeping views of the famous Higashiyama mountains. It is close to Kyoto’s popular downtown areas including Gion and Kawaramachi-dori. The luxury hotel is also conveniently located near Kyoto Station.
The resort is 100 minutes’ drive from Kansai International Airport.
