Grand Hotel de Bordeaux & Spa

Bordeaux, France

Le Grand Hotel is back on centre stage as an exceptional product after an authentic restoration. Its neoclassical façade, which is in perfect harmony with that of the Grand Théâtre ─ both were created by architect Victor Louis in 1776 ─ is also a major reason for the Grand Hôtel’s prestige.

In 1999, Bordeaux businessman Michel Ohayon decided to buy this façade and the adjacent buildings with the firm intention of reviving the myth of the Grand Hôtel. Eight years later, he had achieved his goal, and at the end of 2007 the doors of what is now called the InterContinental Bordeaux — Le Grand Hotel opened revealing a world more majestic than ever, brilliantly orchestrated by designer Jacques Garcia. The majestic hall of the InterContinental Bordeaux — Le Grand Hotel designed by Jacques Garcia is impressive. Marble, Bordeaux stone, warm-tone fabrics (plum, mauve, deep red), 18th century-inspired furnishings, original floral creations: an invitation to peace and tranquility.

The suites and rooms are in the same spirit, they are places of calm and luxury. Each of the Rooms has its own identity and reveals an exceptional decoration. These majestic rooms of 269 sq f, inspired by the nineteenth century immerse you in a cozy and refined atmosphere.

The Royal Suite offers a panoramic view over Bordeaux: the Opera House, the Place de la Comédie, the Court de l’Intendance and the Garonne. Decorated in an Imperial style, this unique space of 1 500 sq f which consists of a bedroom and a separate living room with private entrance offers the ultimate privilege: a spectacular 1076 sq f terrace with Jacuzzi.

Location

The InterContinental Bordeaux is nestled in the heart of the golden triangle, opposite the Grand Théâtre.

Discover unforgettable scenery within easy travelling distance of the hotel and for which the South-West is famous: Bay of Arcachon, Cap-Ferret, the Pyla Dune. Inland, the Cognac vineyards and the town of Cognac itself which is on the Way of St James are well worth a visit. Further South, the Basque Country and the Landes coast offer veritable corners of paradise, between the mountains and the sea. Discover the hills of the Basque Country, the Pyrenees mountains, the vast Landes forests and the immense Atlantic coast beaches. Visits not to be missed: Bayonne, Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Hossegor or Lacanau.

Bordeaux, the world’s wine capital, is close to the Bassin d’Arcachon, the Basque Country and the Perigord. It nestles in the heart of the Saint-Emilion, Médoc, Fronsac and Sauterne vineyards. It has given its name to the most prestigious and ancient French wine-growing region which is famous throughout the world.

Discover Bordeaux with its famous vineyards: 120,000 hectares of vines, 57 fine wine appellations and as many wine-growing areas of unequalled reputation and influence. As if to better protect this god gift, the Aquitaine region hides many Châteaux of incredible majesty and charm, simply to mention their name is an invitation to embark on a voyage.

Dining

Gordon Ramsay’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Pressoir d’Argent, can be defined as a masterpiece of the InterContinental Bordeaux — Le Grand Hotel, an ageless landmark of excellence reflecting the talent of its chef. Signature dishes from head chef Gilad Peled, developed with Gordon Ramsay, include native lobster from the ‘press’ steamed with lemon leaf, corn, girolles, courgettes, coral and lemon grass bisque; and blonde d’ Aquitaine veal, braised shin, bone marrow, white root vegetables, soft herbs and consommé.

Respectful of the quality and freshness of local and regional products, the new menu of Le Bordeaux Gordon Ramsay proposes specialties of the South West of France with a British touch. Among the favorites on the Bordeaux Gordon Ramsay’s menu: the Beef Wellington serving two, three or four people and the famous Fish & Chips will be on offer. As for the desserts list, Arthur Fèvre revamped some traditional recipes: Spring “Gariguettes” (a flavorsome type of strawberry), lemon tart, chocolate Fondant...

In the Orangerie, the winter garden is lit up by a large glass roof. The green and dark wood furniture and the Napoléon III-style seats imagined by Jacques Garcia are of an extreme elegance. This refined and welcoming space can be an opportunity to have a quick meal, enjoy a hot drink, a dish or a delicacy at any time of the day.

The Victor Bar is named in honour of the two Victors who contributed to the myth of the Grand Hôtel: writer Victor Hugo and architect Victor Louis. This warm and colourful bar is open all day long: to share an afternoon cocktail or to have an evening drink.

The cosy, intimate setting, grands crus, exceptional vintages or even prestigious vintages, and first-class personal service of the Black Diamond nightclub, is everything you would expect from the 5-star hotel. You will be welcomed with maximum attention and our resident DJs will thrill you with sounds and atmospheres ranging from Soul to Electro.
