In 1876, Eduard Sacher, the son of the creator of the Original Sacher Torte, founded the Hotel Sacher in Vienna. Soon after its creation, the Sacher became a world famous meeting point for politicians, artists and the aristocracy. Since 1934, the hotel has been run by the Gurtler family, who is very intent on maintaining the hotel’s old tradition. Its elaborate art collection and antiques shape the atmosphere of the hotel and allow guests to experience the traditional Viennese lifestyle. The character of the hotel is forged by elegant furniture, selected antiques, sumptuous materials, as well as the famous collection of paintings. Stylish materials lend each room its unique charm. At the Hotel Sacher Vienna, guests have the opportunity to experience the genuine Viennese art de vivre. The French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon has been commissioned again to implement this scheme in the inimitable Sacher style.
Location
The hotel is located directly in the city center, close to pedestrian shopping area Kartner Strasse, opposite the Opera House and only a short walk from St. Stephen’s Cathedral.

The executive chef Werner Pichlmaier combines international and typically Viennese cuisine, light yet at the same time innovatively created, with the true flavor of first-class local basic ingredients first and foremost.
From the Wintergarten conservatory of the Rote Bar, there is a view directly onto the Vienna State Opera, where guests can indulge in the magic of pleasant piano music. Serving traditional Austrian and Viennese specialties, in addition to the regular menu, there is a daily menu with seasonal culinary delights. In summer, the foldaway windows of the conservatory transform the Rote Bar into a large open terrace. The wine cellar boasts a comprehensive international wine assortment.
Anna Sacher restaurant is as captivating as the exceptionally colorful character from whom they take their name - the legendary grande dame Anna Sacher. Following extensive renovation work the Anna Sacher restaurant is now radiant in bright green pleasantly offset by black furniture with golden highlights. This interior design merely serves to underscore the splendor of the paintings by Anton Faistauer hanging in the restaurant and the priceless Lobmeyr crystal chandeliers. The guest’s culinary experience at the Anna Sacher restaurant is rounded out by a superb selection of Austrian and international wines.
The typical Viennese coffee-house atmosphere can be experienced at Cafe Sacher Wien, offering an Original Sacher-Torte and an Original Sacher Cafe specialty. The Cafe Sacher also offers a large variety of Austrian pastries and other typically Austrian dishes. As a complement to the specialties of the house, there are also the dishes Sacher-Tafelspitzsulz (boiled cuts of beef in aspic), Altwiener Zwiebelrostbraten (onion roast cutlet of beef) or Wiener Gulasch mit Geback (goulash with homemade rolls).
The Sacher Eck impresses with its modern architecture and is a popular meeting place in the evening and during lunch break, featuring small Sacher snacks, a large variety of Austrian sweets and of course, the Original Sacher Torte. The drinks list includes coffee, tea and drinking-chocolate specialties as well as a well-endowed assortment of 35 Austrian wines.
