Amanpulo

Pamalican, Philippines

An island resort since December 1993, Amanpulo’s 40 casitas are twin-roofed bungalows in hillside and beachfront settings, loosely modelled after the Philippine bahay kubo (native dwelling). Decorative interior details reflect the islands: pebblewashed walls, coconut-shell tables, rustic Palawan rice and knife baskets, a king-size bed with a rattan headboard and sliding-glass doors that reveal outdoor decks and his-and-her divans. The large Cebu marble bathroom features twin vanities, separate changing areas, a shower and an elegant bathtub lit by large windows with wooden shutters.

Amanpulo’s facilities enjoy a spacious layout complementing their natural surroundings. The resort’s casitas are situated on the beach, amongst the treetops or on the hillside overlooking the Sulu Sea. Each has its own private buggy allowing independent travel on the island. Amanpulo’s 29 Beach Casitas each have private pathways that leads directly onto a white-sand beach. The four Treetop Casitas are situated above the tree-line, on higher ground. There are five Hillside Casitas with unimpeded sea views. The resort’s two Deluxe Hillside Casitas offer the most spectacular panoramas of the Sulu Sea and neighbouring islands.

Private villa homes located just a few metres from the sea are available for rent and purchase at Amanpulo. Each villa features a private swimming pool and offers separate bedroom, living and dining pavilions, an outdoor lounge and a kitchen. One-, two- and four-bedroom villas are available. All villas come with a cook and housekeeper, and villa guests enjoy full use of all Amanpulo facilities and services.

Location

Set on its own private island in the Sulu Sea, Amanpulo is the epitome of a tropical paradise, and has been for the past two decades. Amanpulo is skirted by white smiles of sand, clear blue waters and a coral reef 300 metres from the shore. Amanpulo boasts all the idyllic beauty of a tropical island retreat and a beguiling air of remoteness. Yet, it is easily accessible by air. Guests are greeted in Manila and travel by chartered plane to the island, landing on Amanpulo’s airstrip. Amanpulo on Pamalican is part of the Quiniluban Group of Cuyo Islands, situated in the north of the Philippine province of Palawan. Located 288 kilometres south of Manila, Pamalican is five kilometres long and only 500 metres across at its widest point.
