Dining
Hotel’s restaurants and bars combine period architectural features with a minimalist contemporary design and subtle eastern elements. Guests have a sense of being immersed in the historic surroundings while simultaneously enjoying a modern contrast to the city. Executive Chef Jiri Stift provides an exemplary culinary experience in both the field of modern Czech and Asian cuisine.
Essensia offers a contrasting contemporary design beneath vaulted ceilings, and menu of Asian and historic Czech recipes prepared with modern flair. Its ancient wine cellar is available for private bookings. The inspired menu is the creation of Executive Chef Jiri Stift; determined to revive the Golden Era of Czech cuisine for today’s high gourmet levels. In the early 20th century Prague was a European culinary centre. Gourmet restaurants, delicatessens and cooking schools abounded in the capital. Chef Stift has immersed himself in the archives and culled the best from earlier cuisine ambassadors to create a menu for the modern discerning palate.
Afternoon tea is served in the imposing Baroque colonnade of the Monastery Lounge’s former cloisters. Menu includes specialty infusions, delicate patisseries and light savories. During the summer a special Summer Afternoon Tea is available upon request. In addition to an array of seasonal sweets and pastries, menu offers specially selected teas by Harney’s and Sons, focusing on jasmine and other scented teas alone with caffeine-free tisanes and stunning display teas, which resemble real blooms.
The cobbled courtyard leads into one of Prague’s most sophisticated bars, Barego; a mixology of lights, textures and modern cocktails. It’s not easy being all things to all people, but Barego comes pretty close. The perfect spot for a perfect drink, celebratory cocktails, a light snack, or a late-night liqueur, this bar has it all with atmosphere to spare. The town’s most tempting spiced Thai fish cakes with an icy Czech beer are also on the offer.
