COMO Shambala Estate in Bali is a residential health retreat spread over 10 hectares of picturesque jungles that promises total commitment to improved wellbeing. Accommodations are a mix of contemporary design and indigenous detailing, with houses dramatically inset into the forest, in jade-green clearings and above the River Ayung. Each is different from the next, with subtle shifts in mood, view and spirit. The hotel offers 5 residents, 9 villas and 40 suites. Private and Retreat Villas allow for couples and single travelers to be entirely private; some include their own spa facilities. Travelers staying at Residence can share pools and select living areas with other guests.

Guests are welcome to try unique treatments: Fitness, Distress, Detox, Wellness, Rejuvenating Therapy, Find Your Balance, Weight Control, and Skin Regeneration. Each guest receives an initial wellness consultation that’s then developed into a plan of treatments and activities. Many of the treatments are Asian-inspired, paired with cutting-edge advances in holistic healthcare.
Mountain bikers can choose from gentle cruises along easy back roads to a bash down muddy tracks and rough village byways, detailed on the Activities Planner, which also includes hiking, trekking, rafting, rowing, tennis and martial arts.
Dining at the Estate is flexible and easy, with various options available to suit different moods and tastes. Chefs focus on nutrition to maximize personal performance by increasing concentration, energy levels and addressing blood-sugar imbalances. The buzzing heart of the Estate is Biji, a contemporary, open-sided, all-day dining restaurant featuring healthful COMO Shambhala cuisine. There’s an open kitchen, so guests can watch fresh food as it’s prepared. Dishes might include lime leaf, chili and coconut curry of fern tips and cherry tomatoes and seared mahi-mahi with, baby zucchini, chickpea and mint salad with preserved lemon and sumac dressing. Kudus House serves breakfast and dinner and showcases the diverse influences, flavors and spices of Indonesia’s regions. It is a more intimate space, occupying a 150-year old former Javanese residence. At night, it offers a quiet, gourmet experience.
