Four Seasons at Landaa Giraavaru
Male, Maldives
A scenic seaplane ride from Male, this Maldives resort offers 18 hectares of unspoilt wilderness flanked by one of the largest natural lagoons in the islands. Guests can snorkel with turtles, manta rays and whale sharks, join pioneering conservation projects in the Marine Discovery Centre, immerse in the healing heart of the Spa and Ayurvedic Retreat, or spend their Maldives vacation hiding away in vast, ultra-private accommodations – on the beach, over the lagoon or in tropical gardens. 102 thatched beach and water villas, including two unsurpassed land and ocean villas, offer features such as private plunge pools and generous outdoor living spaces gazing across the tranquil lagoon. A turquoise gate with traditional Maldivian-style coral walls stands at the entry to each domain, while lush vegetation guarantees complete privacy. Living spaces are refreshed by sea breezes in an open-air bale (traditional thatched hut), while guests can sleep in air-conditioned comfort in teak-furnished sleeping pavilions. Wireless high-speed Internet service and plasma televisions add the comprehensive Four Seasons dimension to this untamed tropical setting. Located along a double-loaded jetty off the northwestern end of the island, villas are perfectly positioned for viewing sunset. Guests are welcome to enhance their stay with a cruise on the Four Seasons Explorer, that takes vacationers island-hopping, stargazing and diving in Four Seasons style. The Resort at Kuda Huraa also makes an exciting complement to an experience at Landaa Giraavaru and a Four Seasons Explorer cruise.

Recreation
Deep in the midst of Landaa Giraavaru, the Spa and Ayurvedic Retreat pulsates with life and wisdom, purity and health. With a strong emphasis on natural healing, the 1-hectare complex draws its strength from the surrounding landscape, the integrity of ila’s Beyond Organic products, and the intrinsic spirituality of its therapists and ayurvedic physicians. The Spa’s 10 vast open-air treatment pavilions – including three dedicated to ayurveda – are nestled in their own lush tropical gardens or on stilts over the turquoise lagoon.
Maldives is known internationally as one of the world’s best dive destinations. A large number of excellent dive sites, including marine-protected sites, are located near the Resort and transfers are carried out by specially equipped dive dhonis. The Resort operates its own Dive Centre, licensed by PADI. A multilingual team of dive instructors offers courses for beginners and advanced divers, as well as leading daily dive trips.
Landaa Giraavaru lies in the remote Baa Atoll, home to some of the Maldives’ most fascinating marine life. Below the ocean’s surface, precious coral reefs ring the islands, where fish painted in psychedelic colors swim, sea turtles coast and dolphins play. Snorkelers, divers and other adventurers hoping to catch a glimpse of these creatures will enjoy more than just a sighting with the Resort’s interactive marine program. Fun family activities include wakeboarding, banana boating, kayaking, dolphin cruises, sunset fishing and private island excursions.
The Resort offers something for everyone in its four separate swimming pools. The 50-metre infinity pool, the only Olympic-size pool in the Maldives, cantilevers over the lagoon, while the 20-metre seawater pool floats nearby. The Blu pool is the perfect spot to share views of a romantic sunset, and the shallow, free-form children’s pool, located within the Kids’ Club area, will help keep children entertained for hours.
The state-of-the-art fitness facility features floor-to-ceiling windows, full-length mirrors, surround-sound audio system and advanced cardio fitness equipment with individual flat screen televisions. The Resort’s outdoor tennis court is lit for night play, and complimentary tennis racquets and balls are available.
Guests can embark on three-, four- and seven-night cruises, or private, customized charters. The fastest and most luxurious live aboard in the Maldives, Four Seasons Explorer offers scuba divers effortless access to a wide variety of exceptional dive sites – untouched reefs, vibrant thilas, exciting channels and wrecks, breathtaking sunrise and night dive sites and seasonal manta ray and whale shark hot spots. Cruises offer unique opportunities to snorkel, water-ski, fish, kayak and sail in virtually untouched waters. Guests are welcome to savor gourmet cuisine and relax with beachfront barbecues, massages on idyllic sandbanks and sunset dips in the on-board whirlpool. Beautifully complementing the stay at Maldivian resorts at Kuda Huraa or Landaa Giraavaru, Four Seasons Explorer offers a spirited resort experience.
