The elegant Amanpuri hotel on the west coast of Phuket is in harmony with its idyllic setting. Ancient Ayutthayan architecture informs the design of 70 pavilions and villas, which overlook lush vegetation and the pristine Andaman Sea. Set on a hillside overlooking a private white-sand beach on Phuket’s west coast, Amanpuri’s Pavilions are elegant and contemporary with oversized bathrooms and spacious dressing areas. Coconut palms cast tropical shadows onto private terraces, each with an outdoor lounging sala. Views are of the gardens or the ocean, and a number of Pavilions offer private pools.

Offering consummate privacy and gracious Thai hospitality, Amanpuri’s Villas lie towards the tip of the peninsula, with ocean-front or garden settings. With a choice of two to nine bedrooms, extensive living and dining areas are arranged around a private swimming pool. Interiors feature Thai furnishings, art and antiques, and two live-in staff attend to guests’ every need.

Location

The Amanpuri hotel is located on Pansea Beach on the west coast of the island of Phuket in Thailand. On a quiet headland jutting out into the Andaman Sea, Amanpuri’s Pansea Beach is an unspoilt crescent of white sands and emerald waters. Amanpuri is a short drive from Phuket International Airport (HKT) — the drive takes around 30 minutes.

Dining

Overlooking the swimming pool and beach, the Italian Restaurant and seasonal Beach Terrace serve locally-sourced fare centred on the fish and crustacea that come directly from Phuket fishermen’s boats. The Lounge pairs an array of wines with oysters, appetisers and artisan cheeses.

Set just back from the beach, the Beach Club offers an open-air lounge, dining area and cocktail bar overlooking a swimming pool. Mediterranean cuisine is a specialty of the house. From November to April, these eateries are joined by a beachside Japanese restaurant, serving traditional fare that fuses local ingredients with produce imported from Japan.
